March 17, 2005 Homestead Exemption for Property Tax Reduction Qualifications are based on age and income as follows:
Must file between the January 1 and the first Monday in June for the year you are filing. Once the owner is qualified the auditor's office automatically encloses a new application with the tax statement every year. Even though the website indicates a “continuing homestead exemption” must be filed annually, the Auditors office said the only time someone who has qualified needs to re-file is if there is a change in income other than an increase in social security or if there is a change in the deed, for example death of a spouse. This does not reduce the amount of money the schools receive because the State of Ohio reimburses Crawford County for the rollback. An application and additional information may be obtained from the Crawford County Auditor's website at: The Crawford County Auditor will also mail an application by request. Their telephone number is 419-562-7941. Their mailing address is Crawford County Auditor, Robin Hildebrand, 112 E. Mansfield Street , Bucyrus , Ohio 44820 |
